Editorial Programme
The University of the West Indies Press first opened its doors in 1992. During its first thirteen years, it has published more than 220 books. The Press is particularly strong in the fields of Caribbean cultural studies, history, literature and political science. We also publish books in environmental studies, sociology, education and economics, particular if those books have a Caribbean focus or relevance for the region. As with most university presses, our books are peer-reviewed by at least two academics; and the final decision of whether or not to publish rests with our editorial committee, composed of international scholars. The Press does not publish poetry, fiction or plays or unrevised dissertations. We do consider books that are based on an original dissertation but they must be significantly revised before consideration.
